DV Tenor & HR* Tenor
Just purchased a Tenor DV and an HR mpc for my late model Mark VI from wwbw. I want to share my experience with you.
I use the HR when playing along with my sax students but the DV is for me.
Like most sax players the perfect mpc is the holy grail............I know you've heard this many times. I was reluctant to switch from my Sugal which I've played for years but was frustrated with a weak low end and inconsistent altisimo. So I gambled and tried your 7* DV which is not as open as my Sugal at 118. But I wanted a fatter and more reliable low end. The DV came through. It took a little experimenting with reeds. My broken in reeds didn't play very well and I realized that a stiffer reed was required. I'm using Alexander and Rico Jazz #3. They do the job. I do a smooth/contemporary jazz gig and the projection is great and amazingly the speed of my playing has greatly improved. The notes seem to pop out almost before I hit them. The stuffiness of middle D is gone. I thought it was a leak in the horn or just the nature of my "VI". But I now have a solid middle D !! I'm also discovering improved intonation on palm keys and higher. Truly a great mpc. For the HR I found a good set up using Alexander NY reeds. It's a sweet mpc, very versatile, but I need to spend more time with it.Regards"

This latest release from Jody Jazz reveals a much more intelligent mouthpiece, a step-up from its previous incarnation, the Classic. Taking its design technology from the DV and made from a special polycarbonate alloy, the all-new JET sounds whizzy and exciting, and to be fair, it is! It won’t cost the progressing student a fortune to advance on to one of these pieces, but it will give the player a natural increase in volume, but without an increase in resistance. The tone is vibrant and extremely responsive – it is baffled sufficiently to give the sound a brightness and a lift at a medium airflow or beyond. If you’re looking to get into pop gigs/fusion stuff/rock n roll this piece should be considered – it won’t cost you as much as a Dukoff but it most likely is more consistently made!!

DV NY Tenor 6
"Dear Jody: I just received the DV NY #6 Tenor mouthpiece I ordered and it gives me exactly what I'm looking for; a big sound with minimum effort. After all, at age 70, one doesn't have a great deal of excess wind-power and energy. The response throughout the horn is great, but I'm amazed at the response in the lower range. I've never been able to "get" below a "D" without really attacking the note; not a good thing for ballads. With your DV NY, I'm able to get 'em all and play tunes I've resisted playing in the past. Lastly, while the mouthpiece amplifies the brightness of my new Yanagisawa 992, it's absolutely wonderful on my "old friend", a 1953 "The Martin" tenor. As in life, sometimes old friends are best"
DV NY Alto 5
"Hi there, This truly is the best mouthpiece I have ever played, and is exactly the jazz sound I was looking for. I am amazed at how well it responds in the lower register, as I have had trouble with a good sound all through the sax. It looks brilliant, simply a great piece, and such quick delivery. I can praise you and the mouthpiece no end, so i will just say thank you so, so much for such a great sounding mouthpiece. I have a feeling I have found what I will be playing for life! Thank you again,"

"I had the extreme honor and pleasure of being involved with the development of this incredible mouthpiece. It offers me a mouthpiece that has extreme control, volume and response with the tonal quality that I've been looking for. It has a bit of the Steve Grossman "center" in the sound with much greater playing ease and evenness than any 'Link I've ever owned or played. If you are looking for a great 'Link "like" mouthpiece without all of the headaches involved with making a 'Link play, try the JodyJazz DV NY. I'm sure you'll love this mouthpiece just as much as I do! Smoking"Dino Govoni
DV NY Alto 5
I'm the band director who left his Drivers license with you guys at FMEA this year. Just wanted to drop you a quick note to let you know that I'm now playing a DV NY 5 as my main alto piece. I absolutely love the control and sound I have with this piece. I've been searching for an alto piece for several years ever since my prized Jon Van Wie recfaced Meyer met an untimely end on a stage floor. The DV NY gives me the sound and response I had with that piece with the added bonus that it is replaceable should the worst happen again. My 3 horns are now JodyJazz setups with DV NY's on alto and bari and an ESP on tenor (although I'm saving nickles and dimes to try the DV CHI and NY for tenor someday as well. My stable also includes a JJ coffee mug.Keep up the great work and I hope to see you in Tampa again in January!Regards, "Paul Bavington

"I haven't played a more beautiful sounding mouthpiece. The sound and response that I get from the JodyJazz DV NY is unlike any other. A very full, true, clear sound that can be commanded at any range or volume at will. JodyJazz has changed my opinion of finding quality craftsmanship in the modern day!!"
"Jody, You have humanized, what it is to play saxophone. I didn't know this level of spontaneity and accuracy was possible before I played your mouthpiece. You have excited me about playing. I feel like there's nothing in my mouth. Knowledge, Heart and Creativity have gone into making this mouthpiece. Every person who plays this mouthpiece will want one"

" Dear Jody,
Thank you very much indeed for recommending the DV NY7* for my Selmer tenor. I thought you'd like to know that it's the most satisfying, responsive, warm and flexible mouthpiece I've ever played; I've been playing tenor for 50 years, and I've had Berg Larsen, OttoLink, Ponzol, Vandoren and Yanigasawa mouthpieces, but this beats them all hands down!
I've just done a gig with it, and it gave me every note just as I asked it, with consistent tone from the top to the bottom. It really is a mouthpiece for a lifetime.
(I use Marca Jazz 3 reeds).
With kind regards, "

" Jody -
I want to thank you... and commend you, on the creation of the DVNY mouthpiece. I have just recently purchased my DVNY 7 and already love the tone and control it provides. I had played a Berg Larsen metal 100/2/M for over 40 years on my Mark VI, and your DVNY is the first mouthpiece that has warranted me buying it. Guess that sums it up!

" I'm a music educator at the middle school and high school levels in Kentucky and I recommend your mouthpieces to all of my students and colleagues. I think that your HR* mouthpiece is one of the best values available on the market right now: A great piece at a great price! A high quality, hard rubber mouthpiece under $200 is unheard of in this day and age but you guys are making that happen. I find your DVNY to be in a class by itself. I've played on tons of tenor mouthpieces over the years and I was never happy with any of them (too bright, too dead, too hot, etc.) but I've really found my tenor voice through your mouthpiece. Thanks for taking so much pride in your products! Feel free to quote this email if you think it could help you.

" I picked up my mouthpiece at TMEA this year. In my practice, I found that I could play much better, with less effort, and a better sound immediately. I just finished a week at the VermonÜ Jazz festival where I got many compliments about my sound. Of course I had to really hold back to keep from playing louder than he section... In a session with Jerry Bergonzi, he complimented me on my tone. I'm totally satisfied with this mouthpiece. "
" Hello Jody,
I wanted to take a moment to say thanks for this great mouthpiece. All I feel is FINALLY. I enjoy playing all of the mouthpieces you have made for me, but this one is extra special. So many metal pieces were too bright when pushed and others lack body, harmonics or have turbulance issues. This baby plays easy and I can use harder reeds which is really a bonus for me personally. It is really inspiring me to practice and go for the sound again. Thank you and I wish you all continued success.
Ole Jacob Hystad
A great compliment to the DV NY 8*! I have played on many different mp,s during the last years, but this one is what I wanted! Bought it a month ago in London. Very easy to play, and a really large sound. Got nice comments from my collegues in Bergen - Norway. I hope you like to receive this message from me.
best wishes "

" Thank you so much for allowing me to try these mouthpieces. I am going to keep the DVNY. I will send the others back this afternoon. Thank you again for your awesome service. I have told several saxophonists about the quality of your products and the level of service. Hopefully they'll try too. Have a great day, "
you are something else! This new DV NY is out of this world. The original DV was great but not enough resistance and it was too bright for me; the NY is everything I have been looking for in a mouthpiece for years. I play it on my Mark VI 98xxx, and I also play it on my Cannonball stone series and the sound is awesome, regardless what horn I play. I just want to tell you how much I appreciate the love and care you have for us musicians for always trying to make the best sound possible and help preserve this beautiful art form called JAZZ. Thanks Jody

" Hi Jody, Thanks for the masterclass in Cologne! You joked about having a midlife crisis and the wish to drive a Ferrari. I still don`t know the feeling of driving a Ferrari, but now - after playing the JodyJazz DV NY Alto 5- I can imagine...
The Mouthpiece plays perfectly, it allows me to play faster and with more precision. But the most important thing of all: I got MY sound that I heard in my head, that I have looked for so long! I can play smoothy, jazzy and funky in the way I love it. Thanks for this!!! Your work is perfect!
At the first seesion with my band I played a solo over Take 5 and the guitarman told me: "Wow, your sound gives me goose bumps :-)))
Thanks and best regards from Germany, "
-Michael Jablonski, Germany
I work part time in a saxophone store, so get to play A LOT of different brands of mouthpieces. I've tried everything out there and they've all been a disappointment. Your pieces were recommended to me by a friend and I've been wanting to try one ever since. In all honesty, I was expecting to play this Jody Jazz for a few minutes and end up having to 'put it in the drawer'. How wrong could I have been!! Wow... this is the best playing mouthpiece I have ever tried. It sounds beautiful, dark, traditional but with some edge when you push it. It's exactly what I was looking for in a mouthpiece and more! Sincere thanks for your advice and time spent dealing with my order. I will be telling all my friends and colleagues about your work, as well as all of the customers at the saxophone store. I am truly stunned by this great mouthpiece and am very grateful to you. I will take it on the gig tonight... and many more to come, I'm sure.
-Simon Kaylor, England
Hi Jody,This is Matt Renzi. Just wanted to drop you a line about the Hard Rubber '8' piece you laid on me last May when I came down to the factory with George Garzone. It's fantastic and I've been using it the whole time since then (recorded 6 CDs with it so far!) The latest one that's gonna come out is my CD "Lunch Special"
I put a track up off that CD for you to check out on my site ... It's called 'Circolazione.' Thanks, and I'll talk to you soon.
What can I say? I LOVE this mouthpiece. It's got guts, it's got growl, it's got altissimo...and it's got perfect intonation. I have never been happy with my Mk VI tenor because of intonation problems, but, baby, they're gone. I love this piece!
Hey Jody! Just a quick note, apparently Ritchie Perez contacted you and you sent two pieces to him an 8* and a 7*. Well, got the chance to play 'em, the 7* played so good I had to keep it, nice job man! I've got a couple of killer hand faced hr pieces(Link, Brihart Ebolin from the 50s) and I gotta say your piece plays as good as those. Can you tell me if these are stock pieces or did ya hand pick these? They play great, would highly recommend to students and anyone looking for a good hr piece. Anyway, I'm definitely set for a hr piece, thanks man, be cool! By the way, the 8* was a touch big and lost the sizzle of the 7* but a nice piece as well.
-Paul Perez, Tower of Power, Smokey Robinson
When I first tried out the new Jody Jazz HR 7*, I noticed an immediate change in my sound. Bigger, and with a little more edge especially in the high register. Wow! That's exactly what I’ve been looking for. After trying out all kinds of mouthpieces I finally found the one. Thanks Jody!
-Ivan Renta, New York, NY
I just got the mouthpiece yesterday after about a week of searching for the right mouthpiece. WOW! What a difference! I'm a high school student in a jazz band and sax quartet and have been looking for this sound since I started playing, round, rich, big, and above all, easy to play even with worn out, several month old reeds. I tried it out in a music store against 3 others which are now irrelevant - I was sold from my first note! The HR* is not only a mouthpiece, it is a masterpiece!
-Brian Rutscher, Stillwater, MN
I received the mouthpiece today; it's excellent, very dark, lots of sound, great articulation. I'm keeping it. You are under charging for sure. You came highly recommended by Jerry Bergonzi. I see why. Next time I'm in New York, I'd like to make an appointment with you, if possible, to play some more. Thank you for an excellent product and service. Take Care,
I want you to know how this mouthpiece fits me. I didn't know it before, you know I believe that you search for one sound but suddenly you try a setup and understand that it is YOUR sound and that's what happened with this terrific mouthpiece. Thanks to do such a good job!
There's not much to say. Jody Jazz HR* is probably the best mouthpiece ever.
-Duan Vukmirovia, Boston MA
On your recommendation I tried the HR* 6*, 7, and 7*. I kept the 7, and I love it!
My sound on my Otto Link 6* hard rubber is somewhat stuffy and very dark, to the point where my sound was jokingly described by my teacher as a "warm blanket." Comforting, but not attention-grabbing.
With the HR* piece, the sound is much louder, more focused, and brighter (in a good way). The tonal center of each note is more "solid", while the overall timbre is delightful and complex.
I really love it! Thanks for making a great mouthpiece. I will definitely recommend your products to others.
-Michael Chimenti, Greenbrae CA
After years looking for the right Tenor-Mouthpiece it seems that the search gets to an end: Even if I'm not a Hardrubber player, I tried the 7* HR JodyJazz and was convinced from the very beginning: I never had such a balanced mouthpiece with a really beautiful sound and this projection! Congratulations!!
-Thomas Hammer, Northrhein-Westfalia Germany
I just wanted to update you on the HR I recently purchased. I recently tried Rico Jazz Selects size 2H on it and by far this is the best sound I have achieved, it's the clearest sound, it projects amazingly but maintains particular control and true fat sound, this is the definition of versatile, and while matching my needs for what it does to make me unique. I know that I'll be playing this piece for the rest of my career. Take care.
-David Milazzo - New Hampshire
Hi there, Jody. I just wanted to thank you. As a working professional, I have tried every mouthpiece out there, and have grown skeptical of the claims of "vintage" sound from new mouthpieces, and especially the "vintage rubber" claims. Consistent workmanship is also hard to find. I am amazed at how many mouthpieces I have tried that arrive with uneven rails or chips in the chamber. You have been responsive, professional, and extremely helpful. The HR* alto 8M arrived today, and it is stunning. It is the exact sound I am looking for, for straight-ahead jazz.Wow- way to go, and thanks for striving for great quality pieces. The wide range of tip openings is really helpful, too- I play open pieces, and all those vintage ones are on the opposite side of the spectrum.
-Chris Lang, Denver Colorado
The mouthpiece sounds great! It is how you described: like a Meyer, but with a little more projection. Exactly what I was looking for. Once again, thanks a lot.
Thanks a bunch for the great product! I have been very impressed with the mouthpiece and my wife has also noticed a difference in my sound! I am very happy with the piece and look forward to many good years of playing on such a great product. Thanks again
R. Henry, III, M.D
Just a quick word of thanks. Thank You Very Much for an Exquisite Product. I Have had my HR* now for several months, and this is by far one of the best Saxophone MP on the market. Thanks again for a great job.
-R. Henry, III, M.D
I love the Hr 6M. I'm playing lead alto in our collegiate jazz ensemble, and I finally have that sound of vintage rubber. My saxophone has become my best friend within the past several months, and I want to thank you for this piece of work.
I Just bought this Jody Jazz HR* at a Sam Ash sore, I got to try all their mouthpieces. From Meyer to Otto Link and all the Vandoren ones. I just fell in love with this Mouthpiece and it is at an AMAZING low price. COMPLETELY WORTH EVERY PENNY!!!!!!! i also use Vandoren ZZ reeds with it and it works like a charm. I recommended this Mouthpiece to EVERYONE at my high school. Thank You soooo much Jody it is amazing Mouthpiece!!!!
-Ernesto Rojas, Downey CA
i played a dukoff d7 vor ages - by accident i had the chance to try your HRs - i just love them! why? the 6M i own gives me a veery great flexibility in sound-expression. then i tried the HR 8 on tenor: it will replace my meyer M6 😉 great response, very rich sound for a hard rubber mtpc - i tried the metal ones to, but i like the HR more, even when playing fusion stuff:-) i use both HRs with harry hartmann's fiberreed reeds. a fantastic combination btw! thx!

I wanted to compliment you an express my utmost appreciation for the fine craftmanship of your new DV bass sax mouthpiece that I received on new year's eve. I've been playing on a Mason silver metal mouthpiece with my almost new selmer bass sax, which was a step up from the Selmer and Runyon modified mouthpieces. Kudos to you. I didn't know what to expect since a bass sax metal mouthpiece is a rarity for this esoteric instrument. With your JodyJazz bass sax metal mouthpiece, I played every note in each octave quite smoothly and accurately without any resistance or unwanted effects. Your wonderful mouthpiece will really make the playing of this cumbersome instrument a dream come true. I couldn't be more satisfied with my purchase...worth every penny and more.
All the best"
-John A Markham - Oshkosh, Wisconson
"I met Jody Espina At the Saxophone Summit and played two of his brand new Jody Jazz DV bass sax mouthpieces.
They were superb pieces - the nicest balance of warmth, power, and richness I have yet come across in a modern mainstream-type jazz mouthpiece for bass.
Very playable and responsive from bottom to top of the instrument. Even though I don't usually like metal mouthpieces, I am seriously considering purchasing one myself as soon as I can afford it.
All the best"
J D Parran
Thanx so much! The mouthpiece is incredible. The JodyJazz bass saxophone mouthpiece focuses pitch information and tone quality throughout the entire range of play. Projection is optimum while quiet tones and soft or fast tonguing are also available. I will use it on my solo concert Friday cause it sounds so good I have to play it."

"Dear Jody, I just wanna say how much I love your mouthpieces. I've been playing your mouthpieces for the last 5 years and you guys down do great work. I have both you Tenor classic, HR, and just recently the Giant. The Giant is some of your best work yet for me, its the mouthpiece I've been looking for. Thank you - William Hopkins"
-William Hopkins - Atlanta, GA
"Jody, John and Danielle, Just one more email response and I will leave you guys alone. I played the GIANT 7* in rehearsal this evening. The blend was noticeably better in the ensemble, the intonation was exemplary at all volume levels and ranges, the response was immediate, and the dynamic range and tonal consistency were just plain fabulous. The piece is so much easier to control, and I am gonna love soloing with it as well. Most of all, quite simply, I absolutely love the sound of it with my Yanni 991. I am using VanDoren JaZZ 2.5 reeds. I could not be more pleased. The mp is everything that is described on your website, and now I sound like the demo by Arno Haas! Well, except that I cannot play as well. Best regards, Bruce "
-Bruce Henderson, Canton, NC
"Greetings from Australia A thousand thank you's for your Giant tenor mouthpiece. It is quite simply awesome. After playing professionally for 35 years, i've pretty much played them all, and the Giant just blows my other pieces away. Don't get me wrong, my other pieces are great playing mouthpieces, but most of them really only do one thing. For me, the Giant does it all. Fat, rich sound for acoustic jazz, enough edge to cut through in an electric gig, and all with power to boot. Congratualtions on producing such a wonderful mouthpiece. Thanks again for the great mouthpiece. Best regards. Ralph Franke"
-Ralph Franke - West Beach, Adelaide, Australia
"The tone was very focused and with a little push sounded like an incredibly good metal Otto Link. The range of sounds the Giant can produce is remarkable. The Giant was absolutely stellar on the jazz gigs and held up quite well on the loud stuff considering it is not a "paint peeler" The response and tone were even in all registers, and articulation was nice and clean. And thats not all: The altissimo range absolutely killed. It's a truly unique product, combining elements of both hard-rubber and metal pieces in a way that could appeal to players of either camp. It plays like crazy. Whether you prefer hard-rubber or metal, check out the GIANT - there really is nothing else quite like it out there."Steve Eisen - Downbeat Magazine
"I received the JET Tenor last Friday and threw myself over the package as it arrived. This was followed by two days of agony until I found a good reed in the reed box. Then - WOW! What a blast! It does everything! Soft, Smooth, groovy, rock'n'roll, edgy, quiet, loud.... You name it. Ridiculously responsive, yet it plays effortlessly! I played for 2 hours straight without getting tired at all! Can't wait for the work day to end so I can get back on it. It's a keeper! Best regards,"
-Fredrik Erling, Hestra, Sweden
"Jody, Just wanted to shoot you an email to let you know how thrilled I am with the mouthpieces I purchased from you in Savannah at the GMEA convention. I purchased the Alto DV8 and I am still baffled at how a metal mouthpiece can be so free blowing, offer so much color, character and fatness to my tone, yet provide the projection I need. Still can't believe I am playing a metal MPC on an alto! The Tenor JET 8 has the character of tone of my old Link, yet the bite of my Ponzol. A perfect marriage of the two! Thanks again for taking time with me. I have some friends that will be at TMEA and I told them to go by your booth and check your mouthpieces out. Best Wishes! Joe "
Earnest Walker Jr
"I just wanted to tell you that I have been playing the Jet for 2 days now and I am simply floored. It is giving me the exact sound that I have been searching for for years. The middle register and low notes are beautify clean and the altissimo, my God, simply incredible. Thanks for creating this!"
-Earnest Walker Jr
"I recently contacted Jody Jazz with questions about the Jet mouthpiece. They sent me two to try, a Jet6 and a Jet7. From the first note played I knew I had a great mouthpiece. The sound I was looking for was there. I chose the Jet6 for my needs. The tone is outstanding. I get more volume and projection than the mouthpiece I have been using with the same amount of air through the horn. The craftsmanship is beautiful on this piece. Jody Jazz customer service leaves nothing out whether online or on the phone. I will now see which Jody Jazz mouthpiece will suit my needs for tenor. "
-William Williams, Augusta , Georgia
"The DV CHI is my number 3 tenor mouthpiece purchased from Jody jazz and I couldn`t be happier, have played the DV, DVNY and now the DV CHI and I can`t beileve the tone and projection of this piece, Jody you are my best friend for life Thank you so much!! "
-Roger Salles, Frisco, Texas
" Jody and staff, I have been playing the DV CHI 7* for about an hour now, and you can forget the two week trial period, you are never getting this piece back!!! It's like I have a new horn and a new sound, playing with ease! I play an early 60's Strasser Marigoux that I have been battling for years, with a Dukoff D7, I thought it was me, that I just did not play enough, or the horn. The guys at the repair shop swore to me it was a sweet horn, no Mark VI or Balanced Action, but a pretty sweet horn indeed. Until now I had many doubts. The sound I am getting from the DV CHI is instantly better, all of the notes come out with ease, I used to worry when playing live that certain notes would not come out, lower register and sometimes the middle D was extremely weak. When playing jazz tunes such as "Turnaround", dropping an octave from middle D to A, it was never certain how well it would come out. The DV CHI has changed that completely, it drops clear and precise every time. Just want to thank you for creating such an amazing piece, without it, I had no motivation to play, the sound was not what I thought it should be and hitting certain notes was always a struggle. This old horn sounds amazing with your DV CHI on it and the notes seem to now come out almost to easy. I have even moved from Rico 2.5, to Rico Jazz 3M that you sent with piece, instantly, my old mouthpiece pretty much refused to move up to a stronger reed. This is incredible, my motivation to play now is through the roof, and, I am finding that I am really not that bad of a player after all!!! Thank you again, Chas "
"I got the DV CHI 7* in yesterday. I can't begin to tell you how pleased I was from the first note. I don't think I've ever played a mouthpiece that was that wonderful- you could tell that there was an incredible amount of attention to detail in the piece. There isn't a flaw in it! The first thought that came to my head was, "This is the first time I've felt so comfortable from the first note, that I could possibly take it to a gig and be totally fine, from the bottom to the top of my horn." So, I did. Took the piece out on a gig last night here in Charlotte, NC and with no issue whatsoever, I played the gig probably better than I ever have before (I've played this gig every Tuesday that I've been home since I was 14 years old). What can I say? Nothing less than incredible."
I wanted to once again express my appreciation for the new JJ DV CHI 7*. I've been playing a DV 7* Tenor and a DV 7 alto piece for years, and simply put, they are the best mouthpieces I've played in my over 30 years. I absolutely love these pieces. Seriously, I've owned them all and I've never played anything like the DV series. What I particularly appreciate is the effortless response and huge rich sound that comes out of these pieces. I'm always receiving wonderful comments about my sound. With the DV CHI, you nailed it again. The first time I tried this piece, I stood speechless. The sound of the DV CHI simply put is "amazing." Effortless and soooo comfortable as usual, with a big, rich, deep sound (not too bright; not too dark) with incredible projection and a wonderful resonance and yet a nice smoothness to the sound. No shrillness whatsoever. Seriously this piece will cover all genre's from mainstream jazz to blues to R&B, etc. The workmanship is second to none, tips and rails are absolute perfection and I'm giddy for having had the opportunity to get one so early. I've owned so many pieces over the years and this has got to be the best I've ever played. Im not sure it can get any better.Thank you so much again for your kindness and time. I'm having a blast with the DV CHI. I truly believe you are the premier maker of exquisitely crafted saxophone mouthpieces and I'm so pleased to be turning several players on to your pieces.Very best regards,"

"I feel that the Jody Jazz New CHI Tenor Sax Mouthpiece is one of the best tenor sax mouthpieces now on the market ! Fat and rich in harmonics sound from top to the bottom, absolutely immediate response, friendly with new reeds, very flexible - you can play soft, reaching big fat sub tones as well pushing a lot of air - you can squeeze many colors from your instrument , also I feel that it's very wise to use silver plating because it will bring you more color and timbre, more presence and warmer sound qualities. And to all off that we can add the extraordinary absolutely "Zen" simplicity design at the same time very effective in all sense ligature called " The Ring " also silver plated , I just loved The Ring - My precious 🙂 ! , finally we have a free vibrating and breathing almost speaking reeds. Jody Jazz CHI mouthpiece is pure absolute art and intelligence wisely combined by it's creator Jody Espina with the pure heart and soul."
"The DV Chicago is the most all around tenor mouthpiece I have played until now. I have played a lot of mouthpieces from different manufactures, only to find one mouthpiece to work well for one horn such as the alto and not the tenor etc... I feel that Jody is a one stop shop for reed players."
-Gil Alcantar, Murritea, CA
"Hi Jody, I took my Alto DV to Europe for a tour with Sheila E. It worked great!! So glad I switched to it! I think it's time to complete my trilogy and get one for my soprano!! If I am currently using a Tenor DV 7* with Rico Royal 3, and Alto DV 7 with Rico Royal 3. What would you suggest I use for Soprano? I play a lot of subtone on Soprano, but I still want something that is fairly free blowing similar to what I am experiencing on the Tenor and Alto. Wayne Braxton"
-Wayne Braxton, Chula Vista, CA
"I have been playing on the mouthpiece for a week now but really, it took all of 10 minutes to decide that this was by far, the best bass sax mouthpiece I have ever played! Smooth and responsive. It makes the behemoth that is a bass sax play like a great tenor. Thanks and now I am wondering why I took so long to decide to try your great product!"
-Don Moran - Omaha, NE
"Hi, i am a french alto saxophonist since 30 years. I just got my Jody jazz DV #8 Alto a few weeks ago and i just want to bring my testimonial. Congratulation for your great work on your mouthpieces concept. I still can't believe of the quality, the versatility and the sound of this piece. Every most important points are extremly accurate. The beak profile, the table, the facing length, the facing curve, the rails, the chamber, the bore, the walls, the baffle angle, the window, the second window. I have played and tested several hard rubber and metal mouthpieces, but the Jj DV has everything of the most popular mouthpieces. This mouthpiece is magical, you can produce the sound of a hard rubber or the sound of a metal mouthpiece. Also you can have a warm, rich, edgy or buzzy sound. You can play every kind of music with this mouthpiece. By the way, it's extremly hard to find a Jody jazz mouthpiece brand in Paris quasi impossible, there is no dealers. Thanks a lot for your great great job. Best regards. Sincerely. Damien Sagbo"

"I've been invited to a school musical program as a guest sax performer. about 100 audiences. I played two music piece using my curved soprano sax and DV mpc. everybody were amazed of my sop sax not knowing that DV mpc itself made a lot of contributions despite I played off key and out of breath. DV mouthpiece (with Jody ligature ring), really is quite comfortable and solid bright sound. I'm really satisfied of the product. really worth the price the high end of the mouthpiece. I hope to practice more and perform to a lot of audiences."

" Hi Professor - I wisely purchased your amazing DV6 yesterday from Damian Cremisi, my new Italian friend at Dillon's here in central NJ. What can I say, except it was love at 1st sound ! I struggled a little w/ the #3 reed, until I popped on a Rigotti 2.5. Found the MP was very versatile & adaptable to whatever mood the tune called for and can't wait to start my scales, today, if you can believe that. After having been away 27 years, the DV6 gives all the projection, plus free-blowing I desire. And the sound will send chills throughout the entire nervous system of any normal human ... UNREAL ! It is am absolute dream to play ....especially with the Selmer #3 neck added to my SA 80 Series I .... and an elegantly aesthetic masterpiece to merely gaze upon during a break. Thanks to you & your staff for all your creative talents, energies and dedication ! Respectfully & appreciatively, Tony DiNardo, DDS P.S. Reflecting back, I really don't think I would EVER, EVER have abandoned the sax if I had this mouthpiece years ago !"
"I have been struggling with the mouthpiece search now for several years. It only took a few minutes of playing on your DV alto mouthpiece to realize that the search has finally ended. The sound is absolutely incredible. If you haven't tried one of these mouthpieces yet, you should! Thank you so much for creating such an amazing product! "Dear Jody, Thanks for giving me the extended test period for the mouthpiece. I used the last days for intensive testing. The first impression was a bit ambivalent or almost disappointing. On one hand there was the impressive ease of response and control, probably second to none. However, on the other hand the sound seemed to me lacking of , of edge, of "smokey air" sound that I always liked on my Dukoff M8 so far (on a Yani 9930). Fortunately I've got recording options at home and so I recorded 2 songs with your MP and the Dukoff. The result I have to admit was quite surprising for me. Where the Dukoff showed indeed some very nice colours in certain ranges the JJ was remarkably more even over the whole range, perhaps not as spectacular as the M8 but at the bottom line more mature and very pleasant in the mix. Less compression was required in the mix since the JJ didn't break out in any range. One more evidence that our instruments sound for our audience (or for the mic) slightly different to what we hear when we play it! Summarized, the ease of control together with "love on second sight" of the sound I decided to keep it and make it a new friend 🙂 However, I found out that I need most likely harder reeds for the JJ. With the Dukoff M8 I used to play Rico La Voz medium-hard or Vandoren jaZZ 3. Your MP came with a Rico Jazz select 3. Was that just coincidence? I never played this type before and I liked it but it was still a bit to soft for me. What would be your recommendation? I know it's an individual thing but since it is so difficult to get a selection of various reeds in different strength here in Bangkok I would appreciate your recommandation very much. btw. The ring is really a good invention - as simple as it is. It reminds me a bit to the old technique on German clarinet MPs of drawing a string around. Definetely better than the normal ligature. Kind regards from The Land Of Smile Martin."
-Martin Koehler, Bangkok, Thailand
" Hi Jody, I just wanted to send you an update regarding the DV8* tenor mouthpiece and ring ligature I received from you the day I visited your facility in July. I thought you'd be interested in hearing some feedback. I just finished playing in the pit for a production of Footloose here in New Jersey. Every night the sound man would compliment the sound I get on my tenor. A direct quote was "It cuts so well and yet is warm at the same time, awesome". I was pretty happy to hear that and thought you would be too. "
-Damian Cremisio, NJ
"I have a Jody DV mouthpiece for my King tenor,Buescher 400 alto, and my King Saxello and the sound that comes out is clearwith no stuffiness! Three wonderful acquisitions!"
-Doug Jackson, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada
"Hi Jody, I purchased your dv tenor mouthpiece last week and can't express just how thrilled I am about the sound I'm getting!! It's incredible!! This mouthpiece has galvanized my playing and my outlook on music!! Thank you Soooo much for your quality product. I'm the tenor player with atlanta based musicians: Coy Bowles (of Zac brown band), I occasionally play with the Zac brown band, I freelance with my jazz quartet, also finished a recording with my band The Soundmen, and I'm a regular member of the yacht rock schooner band. Each of my groups have shown great enthusiasm pertaining to my new sound (mouthpiece). I studied with sam skeleton, kevin bales, ej hughes, mace hibbard and David Sanchez at GSU. Sam mentioned your mouthpieces several months ago and im so glad i tried them! Thanks again,. "
-Jordan Shalhoup, Decatur, GA
"The Jody jazz DV mouthpiece is simply the best jazz mouthpiece I've ever played. Period. I also own the hr* from Jody and it's also a fantastic piece. The DV takes the hr* and improves drastically on it. Altissimo is effortless. Intonation is impeccable throughout the range of the instrument. You have all the power in the world and it's huge and full. The thing that impresses me most about the DV, however, is the sound. To me it sounds like a jewel. Just the right amount of edge. It's absolutely the best tone I've ever produced. Thanks Jody for making such a wonderful mouthpiece and you can be assured I'll be coming to you for the next great mouthpiece. Keep up the good work!"
-Nathan Ross, Ephraim, Utah
"This is perhaps the best mouthpiece I have ever used! Right away at gigs and rehearsals people were noticing a maturity in my sound and asking me how I achieved it. Even though I wanted to take personal responsibility, I gave the credit all to this amazing mouthpiece. I will never hunt for another piece because I know I will not find a more effortless, round, and kick a** sound!"
-Ben Bransford, Carmel, CA
"This mouthpiece is amazing! Jody discovered the secret and showed that it is possible to play with great volume, but without forcing the sound! Congratulations on your art!"
-Newton Fagundes, Rio de Janeiro, RJ, Brazil
"Dear Jody I just received the DV7 for Alto from your B STOCK. The package was well put together and the piece looked impeccable. For the last 2 months I have been playing on the JODY JAZZ CLASSIC 6 mouthpiece. Very good but I was missing the bite and the free blowing. When I put the DV7 on my horn WOW !!!!!!! It called me out and everyone in my home. This mouthpiece is absolutely brilliant. It exceeded my expectations. I have just recently been endorsed by P Mauriat Saxophones here in Toronto Canada. I needed a piece that would make that horn GO FOR THE SOUND, and Jody the DV7 was the one. I am so impressed that I think I will order another one for my Tenor. I would be honored if I could become a Jody Jazz artist endorser here in Canada.Thank you for a great product Jody!!!!"

" Dear Jody, OMG...I received my mouthpiece last Thursday and, after taking about 10 minutes to get use to it and 5 hours of playing after that, my wife had to come down to the basement both Thursday and Friday nights to tell me to stop playing because it was after 12 midnight. I had a gig Saturday night and both the guitarist and bass player were OMG!!! I happen to have a box of Lavoz med hard reeds I bought a few years ago and, of course you were right, they work perfect with the DV 7*. I am very happy to give up the medium reeds! So thank you for making such a great mouthpiece and I look forward to many years of enjoyment blasting out an awesome sound from my horn! I absolutely love it!!! 🙂 With Kind Regards, Steve Binko "
George Keiht Lee
"It was truly amazing, that from the very first note I knew that I was hearing a quality of sound I never thought posible plus ease of playing and note exsessibility. This is IT, Jody Jazz. ps I play a toneking special."

"Hello Jody, I just wanted thank you for your advise on the 8*Tenor sax mouthpiece. It is working great for me. I really appreciate you, for taking time to help me. Annette "

"I just bought a super 400 from Steve Goodson a couple of months ago and finally got around to playing you`re DV model on it , and Man you guys were not kidding! Tom Scott included. One of the best combinations ever. Chris"
"Dear Sir, I recently bought a JJ DV 8* tenor mouthpiece and it is by far the best mouthpiece I ever played on!(I am 56 and play for about 35 years). What a delight to play. All the things you say about it on your website are true as far as I'm concerned. It is totally free blowing and has an infinite sound and enormous power and projection. Through the whole register there is a rich mixture of fatness and brightness while every single tone keeps its own unique color en 'feel'. When I play something is happening to me, I am in a flow, even my fingers move with great ease, effortless. This sound is me! I'm not a pro and since a bought this mouthpiece I feel frustrated that I can't play all day..... I am grateful to you Mr. Espina and I want to thank you for your dedication, expertise and mastership in developing this mouthpiece (and the others I am sure). I am curious about the other tenormouthpieces, when I am in the shop again I will definitely try them. With kindest regards, Oswald knaap"

"Dear Mr. Espina,
Just wanted to check in so you know that I got my DV from Shawna at Pacific winds Music in Eugene Oregon. I had Hashem, a talented sax player play it using my Bronze Yanagasawi bari. WOW, now I know what the two can do. Being probably 50 older than Hashem, my effortwill be considerable less, HOWEVER it is almost impossible for me to believe that a mouthpiece can make such a difference not just in sound but in ease of playing and particularly for old arthritic hands like mine. My joy isn't only in the ease of playing and the sound I now get but from seeing the approving looks on the faces of the "young and not so young bucks" in the band I play in. How sweet to see them enjoying the contribution I am now able to make with this new mouth piece. One trombone player just cannot believe that a mouthpiece can make such a difference - BUT IT DOES!Everything Jim Scimonette Sr. says in his incredible written piece on your web page is something I would have said - were I a musician and not just a player of a bari. Reading through it though I simply kept shaking my head yes, I agree with each of his points. So to move on, I am so happy I decided to give myself an incredible birthday present for my 76th birthday. Can't afford it but the joy it will bring if worth any sacrifice I may have to make. THANK YOU"
-Jean Weakland, Eugene, Oregon
Jim Scimonetti Sr.
I finally got to seriously play your new Jody Jazz DV Bari Sax Mouthpiece and you are absolutely right...it actually is better than my Jody Jazz ESP Bari Mouthpiece! I couldn't put my horn down! I love playing the new Jody Jazz DV even more then my Jody ESP! This was a huge surprise to me because for the past 4 years I have been strongly convinced that I could never find a baritone sax mouthpiece for me that would ever top my Jody Jazz 120 ESP, and the thought just occurred to me, I think you have more REALLY DIFFERING mouthpiece styles and models for baritone saxophones than anyone else! When you get old like me your mind wanders off the subject...especially when you get excited, the subject being how I like the new Jody Jazz DV Bari Sax Mouthpiece and what I think of it.1. It blows VERY free. Like none other. It is in a class on its own. No one looking for a professional class baritone saxophone mouthpiece ought to buy anything until they have at least tried one of these.2. It has a wide accessible range of tonal colors you can change easily and comfortably, and naturally on a dime without needing to swap out mouthpieces for a brighter or darker tone. I love it!3. It blows acoustically efficient. People who play baritone sax on a regular basis will know what I mean by this. The big baritone saxophone will naturally ?work you? because it is massive size and displacement. With the wrong mouthpiece setup, the Bari sax player can be blowing their guts out with moderately loud bands and they will still be buried. But when you have an "acoustically efficient? Bari mouthpiece your sound projects well without over blowing. Most important, it projects with a big warm sound rather than having to go real ?bright? to be heard. A Jody Jazz DV Bari Sax Mouthpiece with the correct tip opening and reed strength will not be the cause of an exhausted baritone sax player.4. The baffle is just right. Not too bright not too dark and the baffle design did not mess with intonation.5. The attention to detail is fantastic! One thing I love to point out to players as I allow them to try your mouthpieces is how exacting and perfect your tolerances are. This is so important because if something bad happens to a mouthpiece like it gets damaged, lost or stolen, the player is not out of the game. It can be replaced! The replacement Jody will be exactly like the former one. We both know having a great mouthpiece is more important to having a great saxophone. I would rather lose the horn than my JodyJazz mouthpieces. If I have a good mouthpiece, I can make any sax sound great. But it will never sound right if you have a bad mouthpiece on a great sax.6. Did I tell you how cool the new Jody Jazz DV Bari Sax Mouthpiece looks on my bari? It is an Italian thing Jody...everything has to look good too with us Italians.Good work Jody...you are truly amazing."
-Jim Scimonetti - President Scimonetti Band & Orchestra Instrument Repair Inc.
"Hi Jody, I have tested the DV mouthpiece and am very impressed with it so I have sent the ESP mouthpiece back by airmail yesterday. The mouthpiece is everything that you said and more. The sound is fat and strong and what is most impressive is it's ease articulation and clarity to each note.It the best mouthpiece I now have. When I solo it punches through the electrical instruments and kept up to the tenor sax as far as aggression goes. I enjoyed playing the Bari before as a secondary horn but now because of the DV mouthpiece Bari I find that I am getting more requests from fellow musicians to use the Bari. Thanks again I can not express how pleased I am with the mouthpiece. My favorite Tenor mouthpiece I have is the Famous Mouthpiece and Alto mouthpiece is the Famous Mouthpiece. In the new year I would like to try the DV on both of these and compare."
"Dear Jody and co-workers, The JodyJazz DV Baritone is another Jody masterpiece! Simply great! It'll definitely replace my ESP. Thank you once more very much for all the excellent work and passion that goes into the Jody masterpieces and - as important - into all the kind and careful services that are surrounding them. With warm regards, yours"

"I`ve been playing baritone for many years and have been using a very good custom mouthpiece for some time. For the last eight years I`ve been the baritone player with the Buddy Morrow/Tommy Dorsey band . I`ve always been a section player and because of that my sound and control of the horn in all registers was of prime importance to me and my section leader. Recently I talked to some long time friends that had been using the JodyJazz mouthpiece. I heard good things about the piece from them which prompted me to try one. I couldn`t believe what I was hearing out of my own horn. The sound was incredible if I do say so myself. In all the years I`ve been playing, backing up singers such as Lynn Roberts, Ray Charles, the Temps, Platters, Stevie Wonder, Steve Lippia, Andy Williams, and the incomparable Judy Garland, eight years with the current Tommy Dorsey Orchestra conducted by Buddy Morrow and others too numerous to mention, I can tell you that this is THE mouthpiece to end all mouthpieces. I`m in no way being compensated for this endorsement. I just felt that if I have purchased something as good for my playing as this mouthpiece I should share it with others. Thanks for listening. I`m listening and loving what I hear."
Lenny Leonard Pena
"Well Guys, as a working saxophonist. Ive tried them all.. literally... Bergs, Ottos, Labayles, Dukoffs, VIntage and New... They dont even come close.. JJDV7* is the piece that worked without needing refacing, more money, and more chops. It will get you back to playing again.. These mouthpieces are designed to make it happen. I can vouch for that since I lost my main mouthpiece I was never able to find another on like it. Then I came across the JJDV7*. I found my sound... Jody has made the most incredible playing mouthpiece ever... "
-Lenny Leonard Pena - LPSaxx, New Mexico
"It is easily the best sax mouthpiece I've ever played and I really enjoyed being able to take a reed right out of the box, and have the ability to play very loud or very softly without any trouble at all. From low to high, everything comes out clean and crisp. I'd like to say that after playing the DV, it is easy to see that the quality just towers over all other current sax mouthpieces, and more than a few of the vintage one's I've played."
-Neil Broughton, New York
"Jody, I've been playing on my DV 8* Tenor sax mouthpiece now for a few months and I can't tell you how great it is. I've been recording and it has such a fat sound. Much, much, much better than anything I've tried before. Thanks so much for developing such a fantastic product. Be blessed. "
-Gary Honor, Australia
"I recently purchased a DV tenor and it it the best saxophone mouthpiece I have ever played. I own Barones,Bergs, Runyons, Links ,Zagars and your tenor piece is mighty. Your new fan"

"Give them a try: Jody does great customer service, so if it's not for you, you can return it, provided, of course, that you look after it. I now have that feeling I had with the other DVs of wanting to get back to the horn, because practice is so much more rewarding. Hats off to Jody again!"

You are right: it's not at all normal for anyone to start off with a JodyJazz DV as his first mouthpiece. You did recommend the JodyJazz Classic & the HR* based on my answers to the "6 Questions" 17 months ago, but I opted for the DV because it looks like a work of art.I think the DV is a great mouthpiece for a absolute beginner like me. It is so easy to blow, and I surprised my tutor by being able to reach high octaves meant for more advanced students. The tone is so good that it inspires you to work on your technique because it rewards you with beautiful sounds (makes a beginner sound like a real pro at times) as your technique improves. One of my fellow music students remarked that my alto sax produces the best tone he has ever heard, and my saxophone tutor ascribed it to my DV mouthpiece. How has the DV mouthpiece affected my progress? Well within 17 months, starting from scratch learning to read music & blowing my first note, practicing an hour or so daily, I progressed enough to play solos in park concerts organized by my music school. Last month I presented two saxophone solos at my daughter's wedding reception in New Zealand & received a standing ovation from her!I'm been invited to play in my music school concert band side by side with the professionals in a coming gala concert, & I'm working hard on it now.I'm definitely going to order the DV NY alto to explore the different dimensions it can offer. All I can say is that my experience as a late-bloomer hobbyist saxophonist has been very fulfilling. I want to thank you for creating the mouthpieces that help make it possible.Thank you.
Jody,It is February now, and I've been playing on my new Jody Jazz DV-8 since November. This is absolutely the best mouthpiece I have ever played on on any woodwind instrument. Your advertising says that you wanted to create the most efficient mouthpiece possible, and I believe you may have succeeded. The pitch is great. The sound is huge, but not shrill. I can play a delicate ballad, or I can play hard driving funk, jazz, blues or rock and roll tune, all with the same ease of play, and the confidence that I will not be betrayed by the mouthpiece. Articulation is very comfortable and easy to control, and most of the time I simply grab a reed out the box, slap it on, and it plays! This mouthpiece has restored the joy of playing Saxophone (and I've been teaching and playing semi-professionally since 1975). Every time I play on this mouthpiece, in any playing situation (the "pit" for a touring Broadway show, a small club jazz date, lead alto in a contemporary big band, a wedding band, the praise band at church, etc.) I find myself saying, "Man, what a great mouthpiece!" I am very happy with the investment I made in this Jody Jazz mouthpiece, it was worth every penny.Thank you.
-David Shultz, Lebanon PA
"Having already the DV for tenor, I was expecting something very good, but not THAT good. I never had sounded so close to my idol, Johnny Hodges, without effort, when I had spent so much time and energy with many other mouthpieces! More stunning, the ease to change rapidly sound colors or styles (playing like Cannonball or Maceo Parker is also cool from time to time). But OK. I could have somewhat expected that from this mouthpiece, knowing the DV for tenor. .....I would have one comment about your website page concerning the DV. It mentions that anybody who plays modern Jazz should try this mouthpiece. To me, this is not true. Anybody who plays MUSIC should try your mouthpieces!"
-Frederic Preitner, Massachusetts
"Hi Jody, I just wanted to thank you for shipping to me the most incredible alto mouthpiece I have ever played. It does everything I thought it would only better. Thanks again Jody."
-Darren Osley, Wisconsin
"You will not be getting my DV back. It is the best mouthpiece I've tried yet."
-Eric Falcon, Florida
" Jody, I’m not a pro. I have been playing an alto in church for 29 plus years. I’ve played in small settings and in front of thousands. All loud fun nasty improv and loving it. 20 years ago I bought my first metal mouthpiece and although I loved the bright edgy tone it gave me I hated the lack of control and sacrificing the lower range for the projection in the upper range. I broke down and bought the DV this past weekend and I cannot even begin to express what a delightful experience it has been. Absolutely incredible!!! For the first time in years I find myself counting down the minutes until I can play again. Projection in upper and lower and upper registers. Absolute control soft and loud. Effortless adjustment from bright to dark. I have many friends across the wide world of Pentecost and will be recommending they give it a ride. I have to say that this is not just for the touring pro or weekend warrior but anyone with that loves to play with passion. I’m blown away and wanted to say thanks for your commitment and dedication to producing such an outstanding mouthpiece. "
-Patrick Chapman, Texas
"Dear Jody. I will try to contain my list of superlatives so I don't sound like I'm gushing. When I first pulled it out of the packaging, I thought it was perfect in every examination of the workmanship. I put the mouthpiece where you told me to just to where the neck begun to peek through. The pitches were DEAD on bottom to top. This is the free-est blowing soprano sax mouthpiece EVER.. I might end up with a slightly stiffer reed even though this is the most open mouthpiece I have ever used.Jody-YOU are the Leonardo DaVinci of the saxophone mouthpiece. You have revolutionized sax playing and now especially soprano playing. Adolphe Sax MUST be smiling down on you.Thank you Jody for constructing and designing something that is keeping a 39 year old passion for playing strong and renewed. Thanks again Jody,
Congratulations,Your mouthpieces and way of doing business are without equal."
"Dear Jody Espina: I've received your Soprano DV yesterday morning'. It's really beautiful and has your super class working´on it, but this is not the best thing. It's sounding´is just perfect, with the most easy and full of soul altissimo I've ever heard. Colourfull and deep heart. You are really a great master. Thank you so much and always keep workin´ please. Kind regards from Spain."
DV Soprano 7*
"I am enjoying your soprano DV 7* sax mouthpiece! It blows freely as your tenor DV does. Thanks for the great pieces!"
-Don Bell, PA
"Hi Jody. Just want to tell you that I´m now playing the DV both on my Yanagisawa Curved Soprano and on my brand new PMauriat alto. Excellent performance with a crispy and rich tone at the same time - I'm extremely happy with my new choice of mouthpieces!!!"
-Pal Austnes, Norway
since a few days I received your mouthpiece and, lo and behold, the Jupiter 767 is beginning to sound as a real Soprano! As soon as I got your beautifully crafted piece, I went through all the reeds that after the usual long adjustment period, were just starting to break in, and to my surprise, especially using the harder ones, I was not only able to play up to the G higher note, but the sound was quite good and a perfect intonation! I should have expected it from your art works! Now with the DV on the Soprano I was finally able to play that register without too much trouble, if not for my inner ear! Thank You very much, you are a Genius (so much as the Da Vinci of sax mpc !"

Dear Mr. Espina,
Just a short note to tell you that I received the HR* (6*) for soprano a couple of weeks ago. This was your suggestion for my needs. The mouthpiece is wonderful, and I want to thank you for your quality product. It gives me the best sound I have had on soprano and the intonation, top to bottom, is great. Full, round tone, very nice. I will pass the word about your mouthpieces and will no doubt be buying others in the future. Sincere thanks for a great product and sincere, best wishes for a great summer.
The soprano piece has enabled me to extend my upper register range by a couple notes, and the tenor piece has made the top end of the upper register more solid. I am glad I didn't wait any longer to try your pieces!!!My wife has never liked my soprano playing much, preferring my tenor which has been my main horn, but last night after she heard me on your piece, she said that I sounded really smooth and she liked it. I realized too that it really took the shrillness out of my tone, and is the sound I am looking for on a soprano.Another critical thing about your pieces is that my intonation is better than it's been on both the tenor and soprano. Incredible! Thanks so much for making such great pieces.

Thanks for the producing the DV Chicago Tenor model- it plays great! I find that there are more overtones, harmonics and better projection in it than ANY of the vintage pieces of all brands that I've been playing. I also feel there's an incredible flexibility and "elasticity" to it which allows me to shape and achieve the sound and color at all dynamic ranges that I'm used to getting with much greater ease- very multi-faceted. I find that just about any reed works right away on it, and the articulation and altissimo is superb. It blends well in the big band stuff I do (traditional or Zappa!), and has a "fat" Dexter quality and "buzz" to it for acoustic jazz. But maybe most of all for the working musician, you no longer have to reach for that "high baffle" piece for the "loud" part of the club date, as the flexibilty in this Chicago piece can be pushed for as much brightness as needed, while still maintaining the perfect blend of treble and mid range that really give a tenor sound that depth and "bottom end". Thanks again; will there be an alto one in the future? "

DV CHI Tenor
The DV Chicago is the most all around tenor mouthpiece I have played until now. I have played a lot of mouthpieces from different manufactures, only to find one mouthpiece to work well for one horn such as the alto and not the tenor etc... I feel that Jody is a one stop shop for reed players.

I feel that the Jody Jazz New CHI Tenor Sax Mouthpiece is one of the best tenor sax mouthpieces now on the market ! Jody Jazz CHI mouthpiece is pure absolute art and intelligence wisely combined by it's creator Jody Espina with the pure heart and soul.
