"Changed to the #7 HR* this from a Yamaha 4C as a standard student progression, had a few issues at first with tuning the sax but Jody himself (great guy) replied to an email and suggested moving to a softer reed (from a #3 on the Yamaha to a #2 on the HR*) to start with. That was all it took, this is an amazing upgrade to the sax, a much fuller sound and one that I am very very happy I made.
I also have a Jet #6 for alto and had similar trouble at the start, again a move from the #3 to a #2 reed was all it needed to get a start and to gain confidence in the mouthpiece, unbelievable the difference the mouthpiece has made to the sound of the sax.
