My Name is Chris Stansfield I'm a Jazz Vocalist, in Adelaide Australia, and I'm studying a Bachelor of Teaching and Music Education at the University of Adelaide. The Elder Conservatorium is part of the University and it is Australia's most senior music Conservatory.
As part of the degree, students are required to have a second instrument. I chose Tenor Saxophone, as it was the first instrument I played in high school and in my early 20s. I haven't played for nearly 30 years. I bought a second hand student sax off a friend who bought it for his son, but he lost interest, so he offered it to me to buy. It is a Axiom Prelude. It retails here in Australia for $799.00
The sound of the horn was terribly bright and the mouthpiece was not really helping the situation, it was an assault on the ears. I was absolutely gobsmacked, the transformation of the horn's tone was miraculous. Gone was the nauseatingly bright sound and intonation issues, and squeaking, I almost didn't believe my ears. It was replaced by a lovely warm dark tome. Simon Clarke, Presto's owner was very impressed too and glad he had included the HR Dark Custom in his range of mouthpieces'.
