Barry Citron on the HR* Clarinet 8

"Wanted to rediscover the lightness of the clarinet after realizing that my 7 pound tenor sax hanging off my neck was kind of heavy. Jody’s Sax mouthpieces HR and HR dark on my alto and tenor breathed new life into my horns. It was time to get rid of the HS* on my clarinet. I went straight for the Jody Jazz HR 8. It opened up and transformed my 1959 Evette Schaffer Master Modele clarinet from a stuffy intermediate horn to a full bodied, woody, deep and expressive, fun to play licorice stick. I have replaced the ligatures on my tenor, alto and clarinet with power rings. I think that the improved contact of the reed with the mouthpiece table is a benefit., improving tone, increasing stability and ease of use."
