Perfect Jazz Mouthpiece!

"I have a degree in music, was a school instrumental music teacher for 20 years, and have been a professional musician since the 80s. I've never been completely happy with the mouthpiece I used for jazz and rock, so it was time for a change. Through Jody's awesome trial program, I tried 2 of his mouthpieces, the DV NY and HR* Custom Dark. I had low expectations of the DV NY, since I never liked metal mouthpieces on alto. Most metal alto mouthpieces have a thin and very bright tone. My preference is a full, warm, dark tone. The DV NY tone was completely unexpected, very warm and full, free blowing with just a slight touch of edge when pushed. I found that I can easily play softly and warm, but can also really push it to get enough volume and bite for big band lead alto, without the obnoxious thin, bright and buzzy sound that many metal mouthpieces exhibit. The 6 tip opening is quite comfortable and controllable. Another unexpected difference, is more sympathetic vibration of my Yanagisawa 880, which can be felt while playing. After answering Jody's 6?s and my phone conversation with him, he really nailed down the perfect choice for what I wanted. In addition, it’s a rare treat to communicate directly with the business owner. Jody's mouthpieces are very well made, and the craftsmanship and attention to detail shows. The website mouthpiece descriptions are as accurate as can be described in words. I look forward to many years with my beautiful new DV NY."
