Rock Rabot on the DV CHI Tenor 7*

"I received my DV Chicago mouthpiece and ligature today. Of course, I couldn't wait to try it, hoping it would meet and hopefully exceed my expectations. And I am completely blown away by the amazing sound and control I now have.

Finding the right a mouthpiece is is a challenge, at least for me. I've owned many very good brands over the years, but was never satisfied with the sound I was able to produce. And it was always hard work playing on them. My hope was to find a piece that allowed for a powerful projection and consistent great sound, while not requiring a ton of effort to play. I had so many criteria. My favorite player is Dexter Gordon. I just love his sound and had heard players say that the DV Chicago can help achieve that sound.

I live in an area where there are no music shops that carry the Jody Jazz line, so trying them out wasn't possible for me. So I scoured every article and watched countless players review them. I still wasn't sure which way to go. I did fill out the questionnaire on their site which let the folks at Jody jazz know my current set up. Then I reached out to Danielle Walker at Jody and she helped me select the right mouthpiece and opening for me, based on my wishes and playing history. She even recommended the reed strength she thought would be best for me on the DV Chicago. I had so many questions and she was able to really help me.

I've played on the mouthpiece for over 4 hours today and am really enjoying it. Thanks for a great experience!"
