It has great projection, just as described.
"Like many others, I am always looking for a better sound. I have been a fan of my favorite mouthpiece for many years, but I have tried many different mouthpieces along the way.
I have been playing since I was 16 years old, and now I am 80! I had tried some of Jody’s mouthpieces in the past, but they just weren’t right for me. That doesn’t mean they wouldn’t be right for someone else.
About a year ago, Matt Catron of Sweetwater suggested that I try the JodyJazz DV HR. I kept putting it off until recently. When I first got it, I thought it was close to what I wanted, but not quite there.
I called David Hayes and talked with him about it. He suggested that I try a stronger reed. Wow, what a difference!
I played my old mouthpiece for my wife and then played the DV HR. She chose the DV HR!
I originally bought it as a backup for my old mouthpiece, but now it’s my primary! It has great projection, just as described. The low range is strong, and when pushed, the high range is too.
In the future, I may be looking at getting the tenor version.
As someone else wrote, do yourself a favor and try one!
