Ünsal Çeliksu Biography

The extraordinary clarinetist Unsal Celiksu combines his passion of music with natural talent and training. Born in Istanbul, Turkey. Celiksu started playing clarinet at age twelve. Celiksu grew up in a house that clarinet is a way of life and his brother was a role model for him. Unsal Celiksu’s brother Ali Celiksu is also well known clarinet virtuoso at TRT.

Celiksu’s school life was always with full of success. In 2011, he joiend TRT Youth Choir. TRT is an important institution held by Turkish government. In 2015 Celiksu graduated with honor degree from Istanbul Technical University, Conservatory of Turkish Music in Instrument Department and in 2018 he complete his Master’s Degree with honor degree from the same department at Istanbul Technical University.

Celiksu has launched a major career as a soloist and a choir musician in both classical and cross-over repertoire. His performances have been widely rewiewed. Professionally, he’s been taking the stage in countless venues in Turkey, Europe and United States with amazing singers and extraordinary musicians. He took part in the studio recordings and concert performances of violin virtuoso Cihat Aşkın's project called Turkish Waltz. He also has mesmerized audiences during his solo performance at Istanbul Woodwind Festival in 2016.

As much as he is playing clarinet, he also has a passion of teaching. G and B flat clarinet instructor Celiksu continues his PhD in Turkish Music at Haliç University.
Celiksu still continues his studio recordings, special projects and to work with great singers and stage performances in Turkey.
