I’ve played on tons of tenor mouthpieces over the years and I was never happy with any of them (too bright, too dead, too hot, etc.) but I’ve really found my tenor voice through your mouthpiece. Thanks for taking so much pride in your products! Feel free to quote this email if you think it could help you.
” Dear Jody:
I just received the DV NY #6 Tenor mouthpiece I ordered and it gives me exactly what I’m looking for; a big sound with minimum effort. After all, at age 70, one doesn’t have a great deal of excess wind-power and energy. The response throughout the horn is great, but I’m amazed at the response in the lower range. I’ve never been able to “get” below a “D” without really attacking the note; not a good thing for ballads. With your DV NY, I’m able to get ’em all and play tunes I’ve resisted playing in the past.
Lastly, while the mouthpiece amplifies the brightness of my new Yanagisawa 992, it’s absolutely wonderful on my “old friend”, a 1953 “The Martin” tenor. As in life, sometimes old friends are best. “
” I picked up my mouthpiece at TMEA this year. In my practice, I found that I could play much better, with less effort, and a better sound immediately. I just finished a week at the VermonÜ Jazz festival where I got many compliments about my sound. Of course I had to really hold back to keep from playing louder than he section… In a session with Jerry Bergonzi, he complimented me on my tone. I’m totally satisfied with this mouthpiece. “
” Hello Jody,
I wanted to take a moment to say thanks for this great mouthpiece. All I feel is FINALLY. I enjoy playing all of the mouthpieces you have made for me, but this one is extra special. So many metal pieces were too bright when pushed and others lack body, harmonics or have turbulance issues. This baby plays easy and I can use harder reeds which is really a bonus for me personally. It is really inspiring me to practice and go for the sound again. Thank you and I wish you all continued success.
Sincerely, “
” Hello!
A great compliment to the DV NY 8*! I have played on many different mp,s during the last years, but this one is what I wanted! Bought it a month ago in London. Very easy to play, and a really large sound. Got nice comments from my collegues in Bergen – Norway. I hope you like to receive this message from me.
best wishes “
” Thank you so much for allowing me to try these mouthpieces. I am going to keep the DVNY. I will send the others back this afternoon. Thank you again for your awesome service. I have told several saxophonists about the quality of your products and the level of service. Hopefully they’ll try too. Have a great day, “
” Hello Mr. Espina! I’ve been playing on the DV NY for a few weeks now…and I must say it is BEAUTIFUL!!! I can’t thank you enough! I will definitely spread the word to my fellow sax-playing friends about this mouthpiece! “
” The DV NY Alto # 5 that I recently bought is worth every dollar I paid for it. The warmth and beauty of sound is incredible. It’s a dream to play my alto sax (Yamaha YAS 62-II) with a metal mouthpiece of such excellent quality and beautiful execution.
Congratulations on such an excellent product and you will always have me as a loyal customer of JodyJazz Mouthpieces. “
“I’m the band director who left his Drivers license with you guys at FMEA this year. Just wanted to drop you a quick note to let you know that I’m now playing a DV NY 5 as my main alto piece. I absolutely love the control and sound I have with this piece. I’ve been searching for an alto piece for several years ever since my prized Jon Van Wie recfaced Meyer met an untimely end on a stage floor. The DV NY gives me the sound and response I had with that piece with the added bonus that it is replaceable should the worst happen again.
My 3 horns are now JodyJazz setups with DV NY’s on alto and bari and an ESP on tenor (although I’m saving nickles and dimes to try the DV CHI and NY for tenor someday as well. My stable also includes a JJ coffee mug.
Keep up the great work and I hope to see you in Tampa again in January!
Regards, “
