Alan Sandilands on the HR* Bari 7

“Hi from the UK,

I have just purchased your HR* 7 Bari mouthpiece and had to contact you to say “What a Masterpiece”, a pure joy to play on. I have played Baritone Sax since around 1963, mainly using hard rubber Berg Larsens on 1930’s Conn X-Bar horns. Ten years back I sold my instruments but recently purchased a 1933 Conn Bari.

Saw your clip on YouTube and bought one via Gear4music, UK. Many thanks for this inspired easy blowing Baritone Mouthpiece, and your highly skilled dedicated craftspeople. I intend to let my Sax playing friends know about this.

Very best wishes for future success and prosperity, Alan Sandilands.”

Ben Plocki on the DV Bass

This mouthpiece has completely revolutionized what I’m able to achieve with my bass saxophone. I was using a metal bari link #9 before and I had to use really soft synthetic reeds to get the sound I wanted. Now I can use proper cane reeds that are a more normal strength with the DV Bass mouthpiece, and everything plays more in tune and more stably from top to bottom. I wouldn’t give this mouthpiece up for anything now! https://youtu.be/zUzFS46uQa0?t=266

Hi Jody,

My name is Ed Beleck and several months back I purchased a Jet mouthpiece from you. I just recently held a jam session at our house for all the neighbors in our neighborhood and this was the first gig I have played out with the mouthpiece since I purchased it and the response was unbelievable!!!
I had numerous people afterwards come over to me and say how much they loved the sound. I know the player makes the sound but at the same time a mouthpiece is huge contributor to that. I just wanted to take a moment and say Thank you for such an awesome Mouthpiece!!! It plays through all the scales with ease and sounds so clear. You definetely have a fan for life. With that said could I please request an autograph Jody? it would truly mean a lot to me. Thank you in advance and look forward to hearing from you. Keep up the great work!!!

Sincerely,

Ed Beleck

Chuck White on the SUPER JET

Just received my JodyJazz SUPER JET Alto piece today and I am in love! I was using the DV and this piece has more edge but still a sweet, complex sound that will work in a big band or concert band and that can and will scream if you want it too. What an amazing mouthpiece! Thank you Jody – I have finally found my sound.

Dear Jody Jazz Team….. a week ago I received my new Jody Jazz DV for Tenor Sax along with the Power Ring Ligature. I LOVE IT.

Here’s some information you may find helpful. Using a reed that is “perfect” for your old mouthpiece probably won’t work. After soaking my new reeds I found it very helpful to aggressively rub the taper on the reed to “seal” the fibers. Then gently bending the reed between my thumb and fore finger loosened it up for the initial playing. Finally, firmly pressing the reed onto the mouthpiece while tightening the Power Ring also made a big difference. The bottom line here is that if you don’t work to get a good reed on this setup you may be frustrated with what can be an almost too bright (brassy) sound or one that is hard to control. With the proper reed, however, you very quickly master this phenomenal mouthpiece to create what ever sound you are looking for. Finally, I’ve never had a setup that held intonation perfectly from one end of the horn to the other…. a feature you need to market more aggressively).

I play a Big Bell, Stone Series Cannonball, use Vandoren Jazz reeds (red and green) and do both solo and band work. I can use this tool to blend within a section or stand up for solo work and cut through any background. If you ever have a potential customer who is unsure if the cost of this setup is worth it, I’d be happy to offer a testimony.

Thanks again for offering such a wonderful product.

Jody and Company,
I am a 42 year-old-dog learning new tricks. I have played the guitar and bass for over 20 years and have always loved the saxophone. Last year, I took the plunge and adventure of being a horn player. The last year has been full of ups and downs, frustrations of a new instrument I assume. Regardless, I have kept pushing. I recently ordered an HR*, 7* and instantly fell in love. This is what I have been missing! My Otto Link and stock mouthpiece may never see the light of day again.
I have had your HR* for a week and my practicing has gone from “ugh” to ” bring it on!”.
I must also tell you why I chose to purchase a Jody Jazz mouthpiece. In my research or quest.for a new mouthpiece I watched a video of Jody describing his story and that he felt a player should ‘be able to play with every breath’. And I agree because I found myself spending so much time focusing on how to make this horn sound well. Additionally, the HR* being one of the top sellers I figured it was worth the investment. Come to find out, it is well worth the investment.
Thank you, thank you,thank you

I look to adding the GIANT next.

Thanks again
